What we’ve been up to lately…
Rally – Saturday 11 August 2018
We had a great rally on Saturday.
A few faces that I haven’t seen out on horse back before. Which was nice, although I didn’t get to have a chat cause I was wrapped in staying on new horse.
Louisa Ayres was a breath of fresh air for us that partook in stressage. Fine turning us all, it’s so good having simple reminders that get results. Thank you Lou
And Melda Gibson had a great turn out also for the showhunter technique lesson. Getting some lovely following correct changes over her course.
The rally went pleasingly well, considering our last minute change to the grass end of the park.
Well done everyone, and thank you to our treasured instructors 🙂
Our AGM was recently held at the end of July at the Waikanae Pony Club Rooms (thanks you very much WPC for the use of these rooms!). We had a pretty good turnout of around 20 people (but would of course love to see more :)). Most positions held remained the same, with just one or two changes. Position holders are as follows for the 2018/2019 season.
Club President: Karen Trotter
Vice President: Sandra de Ruiter
Treasurer: Val Ballinger
Secretary: Sandra Ray (new)
Facebook: Nicky Robinson, Kirsty Clyma, Val Ballinger
Website: Angie Galland
SJ Coordinator: Melda Gibson
X-country C: Marcella Bates
Dressage Coord: Martin Sheffield
Social Events: Lesley McKenzie
Club Uniform: Nicky Robinson
Under 25 rep: Hannah Murphy
Thanks very much to Justina Hart-Scott who has stepped down from the position of club secretary due to family and work commitments. Thanks for all your work over the past few years. And also thanks to Sandra Ray for taking on the position – both very busy ladies!!
Other awards on the night were:
Silly Chook Award – goes to Mary Pagnamenta for having her mechanic come and pick up her quad bike which wasn’t going because she left it out in the rain one night. They took it away …. only to discover that it just needed some petrol!! Silly Chook Mary spent a couple of days trudging around in the mud with a wheelbarrow feeding out when she needn’t have – hahaha (with a recovering smashed collar one I might add!)
Scal Sweetman Award – this award is for the person who attends the most club events including meetings, working bees, rallies, etc etc. This year this award goes to Val Ballinger.
Best All-round Achiever – this award goes to the person who not only comes to club rallies etc but also does well with their horse out and about at other horse events. This year, Keren Rooke wins this with her lovely dressage horse, Lily.
Most Improved this year goes to Martin Sheffield and the gorgeousLevi.
Club Person – this goes to the person who is seen to be being a lot for the club in a variety of ways – attending meetings, volunteering for sub-committees, going to working bees, organising events etc etc. This year the very deserving Val Ballinger wins this award.
